I have bandits in a close-to-center NPC system (with research, shipyard and so on) and they destroyed all defending ships.
Now no more npc ships are there to defend and the bandits start chewing on the stations.
Please implement some kind of reinforcements for the defending faction from time to time.
Or let the bandits leave when they killed all NPC ships in the system (or did a specific amount of damage).
I dont want to defent everyone i come across, if they cannot handle a few raiders they should not live close to the center   :P
