Troubleshooting / Re: Fps issues.

Ahh devil is in the details, you did say you login to a server.

How about when you start your own game for solo play, any issues then?

I apologize ahead of time as I am not sure where your PC knowledge level is but here.is a few things to check.

Mouse trails or custom cursors? Sometimes and oddly can cause fps issues.

Any sort of weird dpi scaling set in windows?

Also, sounds odd as well, are you able to log and verify your video card clocks go up when you start the game?

And...can try setting windows mode, full screen, window full screen.

My last resort recommendation is to try the old clean boot.  So only essential windows services and drivers are loaded. (Not safe mode).

Basically standard startup but with non of the extras.

(BEFORE DOING CLEAN BOOT, I posted again with a few things you check and try before hand below.)

Full disclaimer: only do it if your confident and know what your doing. Dont be offended, I just have no idea of your PC knowledge level, you also may have done this already or know more than me- but just trying to help. If after clean boot still no go, then could be a bug specific to your PC config.

Clean boot info because I'm too lazy to type it out:

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-clean-boot-windows-10?amp

Also fair warning, if you overclock hardware etc, may want to make sure the specific softwares for temp control and over clock monitoring are not disabled, or set thing to non overclock in case those very softwares are somehow conflicting. AV software also sometimes gets a little angry and will throw warning that spyware is trying to disable your system.

Lastly if you rely on AV make sure to turn everything back on (also on webpage on how to re-enable everything) before browsing the internet etc.

If still no go, post dx diag and hopefully devs can help out.

While this may be coincidence your the second person to report issues with

16gb ram
A 1060
And a 83xx AMD CPU.

The other person had windows 10.

I will reply here in a bit with a few things that may be worth trying.

So it looks like we have game specific and down to client specific.

Your hardware should be doing better then the fps you are getting, especially if you are.playing other games at good graphic settings at decent fps. In my experience in these situations it is usually a piece of software,  specific to what you have running in background that causes this issue with a specific game when everything else is running ok.

Not always, but usually.

My recommendation is to try the old clean boot.  So only essential windows services and drivers are loaded. (Not safe mode).

Basically standard startup but with non of the extras.

Bugs / Re: 0.30 OP Cannon Ships
« on: January 01, 2020, 04:06:16 AM »
I actually just found a turret factory myself in trinium zone that has 20k hit capability for cannons just in the blue category.  Haven't gotten enough rep to get the higher rarity one, a little scared to see what they do.

I wonder if cannons got a bit of a buff due to the fact that they aren't a hit scan weapons so it should matter more when they hit...but sounds like rng has an outlier somewhere that  makes them stronger then intended.

So just a quick couple questions

Why did you roll back to 0.21 for beta? Trying get to version before fps issues?

Do you have other games that work fine? Can you state what those games are? Odd question but just want to make sure it's game specific.

Have you updated graphic card drivers Recently? When you update, do you let Nvidia driver installer do a clean update?

Have you tried joining a public server with current stable release? While I suspect a client performance issue, joining a public server would help alleviate suspicians of your local machine acting as the "host" as a potential issue.

Thanks!

Disabling:
 sendStatsToAdmins=false
Cuts out several hundred kb a sec about 200-300 on my single login.

In a busy sector with a 50k block ship not doing anything I averaged 200-300 kb a sec sitting there. With sendadminstats=true it shot up to 600-700 easy while idle.

Releasing three squadrons of fighters upped that another 200-300 kb but fighters don't sit still.

In sector switching did see a few larger spikes but that was to be expected.

All of this testing was done on a Windows 10 Lan server (separate from my gaming PC, avorian runs on seperate physical server.) I use the term Average loosely as there were brief spikes on occasion.

Version tested on was Beta Patch 0.30.

Thanks!

(Edited a few times because phone auto-correct thinks it is smarter than me...probably is.)

I have discussed this very same thing so I agree. It is covered in my comprehensive analysis post.

https://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,5977.0.html

Yes it's way to long, but comes to the same conclusion about the hit scan weapons (rails, lightning etc)  being superior due to the speed of ships.

Not a big deal if you had heavy hitter battleships mixed with picket ships, but when all ships come at you and after burn around in different directions, it also takes way from enjoyment of the game. However they did post in latest patch that long range ships will stay at range so I need to test it out.

Don't worry, probably just Skynet becoming self aware. I wouldn't worry about it.

In seriousness, is it possible it could be one of the new missions but the translation is bugged?

Do you have a save state of the sector to post for the dev team to review? Would the owners of the server be willing to Share that?

Yes I agree, we need  "volume level" item management.

Gorbald,

Your observations coincides with my own, and while the new ai can be useful for chasing down players, EVERY ship thinking it's a tie interceptor  does not mesh well. Different ships need to be given different AI options in my honest opinion. With NPC ships being given the assigned behavior based on it's category/function.

Long range weapons and large ships, stay at range fire -no afterburning around like a dragonfly on crack-  shorter range faster ships, use the current iteration of AI.

Or a filter by >set dps<  or >variable<.

This way if you know you have plenty of weapons exceeding 100 dps, you can filter for anything lower and trash/research them.
