Bugs / Volume limits can be bypassed with framework blocks

Framework blocks can be used as a means to bypass a server's volume limit.
Because of their lower volume and no check for blocks that are already in place, they can be changed into other blocks even when it would exceed the volume limits.
This goes hand in hand with the exploit of stacking multiple blocks inside eachother.

Bugs / Extreme lag in alliance inventory is back

So this seems to have become an issue again after the last beta moving to stable, haven't heard reports about it for a while but from what I heard it can take up to minutes before the inventory updates.
Note that this is on a galaxy of a few weeks old, and problems started AFTER the patch moved to stable.

Suggestions / Let players confirm before jumping into dangerous sector

A feature that notifies and asks for confirmation wether players want to jump to a considerable dangerous sector.

This could be calculated by the avarage firepower and amount of ships in the sector compared to the player and the sector he is jumpiny from and only show up when the situation is larger by factors.
Calculations can be done during hyperspace calculation after sector generation, showing an UI window upon completion. This UI window could have an option that players can tick to not show the window for the remainder of the session to prevent it from being annoying.

For server owners and modders I would suggest to open up the scripting part for the calculations, so that it can be adjusted to taste.

Pretty straightforward but might be a big help with the issues of players getting obliterated while jumping into a sector they are not prepared for.

As reported numerous times but 0 response from any dev I am reporting this again in public.

Most  experienced players are aware of the broken mechanics of crafting and selling turrets.

Due to certain turret factories making certain turrets that are worth a lot more when sold than the costs for crafting.

This is probably due to a fault in the RNG calculculations of turrets and their value.

Seems to happen mostly to Tesla and Force turrets but have had reports of other types aswell.

A request from modders would be to open this up in the API and give us the tools to balance it ourselves if the devs don't feel like putting effort in it.

We get a lot of request for player resets due to our increased difficulty which makes the game a lot more challenging.

The most annoying about this is that we have to stop the server for other players in order to do so.

So my suggestion is another way to reset a player, perhaps with him being offline as that might be easier to implement.

Bugs / [0.16.2] Server crash logs

The crash logs seem pretty consistent, the occasion is rather inconsistent, however.
Sometimes the server runs fine for hours/days, but then suddenly starts crashing a couple times per hour.

I would also like to note that since the v0.16 patch the server load has been averaging near 100% load, performance is decent on most occasions but I'd figure the load shouldn't be that high for no apparent reason.

edit:
We just noticed that a lot of these crashes coincide together with our server manager issuing a /status command, as you can also see in the logs. I'm getting the feeling that's no coincedence and might be an issue in the memory management.
For more information, we are running two instances on one machine which both issue the status command at the same time through the DSM manager.

Bugs / [0.15.7] Cargo Haulers not responding

We have noticed a lot of cargo haulers not responding anymore, they either lie dead in their tracks on their way to a station or in front of one.
As if it lost track of it's orders.

This causes the stations to not resupply which is quite annoying, after deleting them new ones will spawn.
Nothing that I saw in the logs that gives a clue unfortunately.

Multiplayer / [EVENT] Last Drone Standing @ Rusty's Universe 09-12-2017

Hey all,

We are upgrading our server and due to that we have a few days of overlap in which we have an empty server to use. I'd like to take this opportunity to host our second event.

The event will probably take place Saturday around 21.00-22.00 (further information later this week)

I have been wanting to do this for a long time after we did our first event a few months ago which was a lot of fun :)

The event will be Last Drone Standing, in which you will face other players in your drone and the last one to survive will win a price.  We will probably do multiple rounds, so if you can't get there on time you might be able to join in later.

I have picked a few dates through an online date picker, please fill in the times you can be available to start.

There are no further requirements needed, it will take place on an empty server that I'll prepare for the event.

Suggestions / Auto-complete for names in chat

Sometimes players have very long/cryptic names which makes it hard to use them in commands or when sending a PM.

Would be nice to have a feature that auto-completes their name, preferably by tabbing while typing.

Bugs / [15.1] /help displays same description for two different commands

As you can see in the image the description is the same while it appears to be two different commands.



Also I'm curious how to set these descriptions, as we have a few custom commands which would be nice to add a description to.

Bugs / [15.1] Server crashing while loading sector

It appears the server crashes when it tries to load a sector that might be bugged, both times a player was calculating a jump right before the server crashed.
I have attached the two logs, if needed I can provide the sectors if you can tell me which ones it were. http://www23.zippyshare.com/v/8oj6AzCG/file.html

It's not clear to me which sector that would be, maybe it could be useful to print the sector next to the jump calculation. (Please only printed to log and not to console, as other players can see this too and track the specific player down).

And please up the max download size, 192kb is nothing!

Bugs / Traders not spawning in previously empty sectors

Trading ships do not spawn in sectors that used to be empty.

We found out that the traders.lua script is not bound to those sectors, therefore the traders will never spawn.

That would make it only possible to build them in habited sectors, or ones with atleast one gate.

Bugs / [0.13.0] Serious MP gamebreaking DUPLICATION GLITCH

This bug needs to be fixed asap, it's currently breaking economies and gameplay experience on multiplayer (PvP) servers.

Basically with this bug you can duplicate any type of turret and use it to your own benefit, wether that is getting insane firepower or all the money you want by duping force turrets.

The reason I'm posting this here is to raise awareness so that it can get fixed as soon as possible, if you agree with this let something know below!

From our experience our server died down pretty hard after discovering that players had been using this for their own benefit. One part of them stopped because it is unfair and the other part stopped because we announced a wipe when this gets fixed.

Instead of having to ban those players for doing it, I'd rather see this getting fixed ASAP!

Note that there are two ways to do this, either how I show in the video below or by using alliance ships. The way to do it with alliance ships is by going into build mode and deleting the whole ship or block with turrets while another alliance member is in the sector.

Bugs / [0.12.7] Ships disappearing when jumping to Guardian

This bug happens very rarely but when it does a player loses all his hard effort he put into the ship.
It mainly seems to happen in an alliance owned ship and not just on our (modded) server, heard about 2-3 other occasions.

I tried to reproduce it by jumping back and forth over 20 times but so far no luck yet.
